Conifer Bike Shop is looking for an experienced bike mechanic. Industry times have been uncertain but we are continuing to grow quickly and as a result we are seeking an experienced mechanic to join the team. This position can be full time or part time based on the applicants needs and is an opportunity to join a team that cares not only about providing excellent service but also each other. The initial position will encompass a wide range of responsibilities (see below) as is typical within a small shop setting but the primary focus will be on bicycle service/repair and service ticket writing to start. You will be expected to assist with all aspects of running the shop at times and you will be highly encouraged to help us improve our processes and operations. The position is seasonal to start but if we find the right person we are open to a year round position as well. Benefits can be discussed during interview and will be available after an initial trial period to be set upon job offer.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Complete tune-ups, repairs and diagnosis of minor and major repairs
- Basic suspension service (fork lower, shock air can)
- Assemble new bikes
- Diagnose wear and damage on bikes to give accurate estimates to customers while educating them on which repairs are essential and/or recommended and why
- Maintain service tickets on Lightspeed Retail Software with detailed records on all work performed
- Quality check builds and repairs
- Wheel truing and wheel building
- Educate customers on how to use and maintain their bike and any additional products they may need
- Provide excellent communication with customers in store and over phone, text, and email
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 1 year previous bike mechanic experience in a bike shop setting and bike knowledge is REQUIRED! (PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU HAVE NEVER WORKED IN A BIKE SHOP)
- Must be self motivated, able to prioritize your workday, multitask and be EXTREMELY detail-oriented
- Ability and more importantly willingness to learn (we can never know everything and that’s ok)
- Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions and take direction well
- Professional appearance and demeanor are required, we are a bike shop but we offer premium service and professionalism
- Good time management skills
