Job in a Nutshell:
The Food Safety Sanitation Technician position is responsible for cleaning of the production equipment, production rooms, and general warehouse. This position will be responsible for developing and following Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP). The Sanitation Technician will be required to perform cleaning to keep production on schedule and complete all required documentation. The sanitation program is a process preventive control as required by FDA, and therefore requires completion of necessary certifications for FSMA compliance.
The hours required for this position are: Monday-Thursday 8:00am-4:30pm & Friday 6:00am to 2:30pm
Responsibilities
Main Ingredients:
Knowledge of production schedules and changeovers requiring machine disassembly
Knowledge of machine change parts required for specific products
Disassembles, cleans and reassembles baggers and related equipment to meet production schedule
Performs post-sanitation inspections of production equipment; assists with allergen swabs on clean equipment
Washes containers, tubs and utensils for production
Maintains sanitation logs of equipment, floors, walls and any other daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedules for production and storage areas
Operates baler for recycling of cardboard and plastic
Operates floor scrubber, pallet jack, and scissor lift as needed
Maintains dust control in the production areas
Maintains adequate inventory of cleaning supplies
Assists with developing SSOP’s as needed to meet FDA requirements and startup of new equipment
Performs all duties in compliance with company policies and procedures
Maintains grounds free of litter and debris
Assists QA with any sanitation or food safety related duties
Obtains NGVC internal certifications for sanitation to meet FSMA compliance
Participates in monthly facility audits with Quality Assurance

Qualifications
Recipe for Success:
High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience is required
Must obtain level 3 Food Safety and GMP certifications within 1 year
Current valid driver’s license with reliable transportation is required
Minimum 1 year experience in food production sanitation preferred
Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices in food production required
Ability to read, write and speak English clearly and concisely is required
Strong communication skills; ability to work with various members of staff and management
Able to work in different seasonal climates and temperature changes
Flexible to schedule changes
Forklift experience preferred
Excellent attention to detail and able to meet all deadlines

Physical Requirements:
Must have the ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 50 lbs.

Must be able to constantly sit, use fine motor manipulations, and reach outward for the duration of the work shift.
Must be able to frequently grip, bend, twist, and turn.
Must be able to occasionally walk, stand, squat, kneel, and reach above chest as needed.
Environmental Requirements:
Must be able to work occasionally with cold, heat, sharp tools and equipment, noise, contact stress, dust, fumes, and congested worksite.
