I am a 41-year-old quadriplegic seeking a home health aide for weekday evenings. Experience in hands-on care and quadriplegics is preferred, but not necessary. This is a great opportunity for medical students and others in medical fields looking for consistent, part-time work outside of regular business hours.
Tasks include range of motion, hygiene, skilled bowel and catheter care, transfer/positioning, exercise, and minor housekeeping. Training is provided.
Desired qualities:
Patience, efficiency, and eager to learn!
Some strength for slide board transfers (no lifting needed) and repositioning
There are two positions available. The first is 8.5 paid hours weekly. Schedule:
Tues-Thursday evenings: 7:30-10:30 PM
Wednesday evenings end at 10 PM
The second position is 6.0 paid hours weekly. Schedule:
Saturday and Sunday mornings: 8-11 AM
An ability to fill in for other evening shifts throughout the week on rare occasions is greatly appreciated (all shifts are outside of regular working hours.
Others describe me as kind and fun! I am a working engineer that enjoys the outdoors and time with family. Other interests include music, technology, and quad-friendly drone flying. My spinal cord injury is C4/5 level, so I have some arm mobility but no finger function. I can brush teeth, use a fork, and use a computer. Due to my lack of strength, I still need help with transferring, positioning, and the other tasks mentioned above. Some pictures of me are included as well to prove that I’m not a crazy person :)
The position starts at $23/hour, with the possibility for an increase with significant prior experience. The starting rate for those with nursing certifications bumps to the following pay rates:
LPN: $30/hour
LVN: $35/hour
RN: $40/hour
If you’re interested, please send me your resume and any questions. We can clear up a few questions by email, and then set up an interview if it seems like a good fit. Thanks for reading!
