Eldorado Climbing Walls’ Route Setters perform route setting and work-at-height services at climbing facilities throughout North America. Route setters must be proficient in setting bouldering and roped climbing routes and comfortable working at height. Ideal candidates will be eager to travel, have prior experience setting in a commercial gym, and the ability to deliver a positive customer service experience to clients.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of professional route setting experience in a commercial gym
- 2+ years of work-at-height experience
- Ability to set quality bouldering routes ranging from V0-V8 for a variety of climber experience levels
- Ability to set quality roped routes ranging from 5.6 to 5.12 for a variety of climber experience levels
- Ability to travel to various project locations around the lower 48 states and spend up to a week on-site, up to eight times per year
- Ability to work 10-12 hours per day and weekends
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to work quickly, efficiently, and safely
- Experience working at height with double rope system following climbing wall industry best practices
- Ability to lift 75lbs
- Knowledge of climbing gym operations preferred
- Ownership of basic route setting tools including cordless impact drill and driver
- Ownership of work-at-height equipment including full body harness, ropes, ascenders, pulleys, is a plus
- Work-at-height and climbing wall instructor certifications through the Climbing Wall Association preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Meeting with clients to discuss user demographics and desired outcomes
- Inventory of holds and bolts and planning the set
- Setting quality routes for the target user group
- Communicating status and coordinating sign off with clients
- Represent Eldorado Climbing Walls in a professional manner
- Other work-at-height tasks including T-nut replacement and auto belay installation
