The primary purpose of this position is to lead a community that prepares the student to be outstanding contributors to their halls, classes, campus, and global society.Description: The CU Boulder Hall Director position requires inclusive, student-focused, and adaptable standout colleagues. Successful candidates will be highly collaborative, but will also have the skills needed to make decisions independently. A firm commitment to expansive educational practice is highly preferred as this position will lead a diverse residential community through the development of identity-based living-learning communities (LLCs) and/or residential academic programs (RAPs). Keeping with departmental goals of inclusion, faculty integration, and curriculum development, priority will be given to diverse candidates with previous experience integrating co-curricular learning within a residential setting. Coordinate, facilitate, and evaluate educational and academic programming and maintain budgets and other fiduciary responsibilities.

Promote an inclusive student-centered residential environment that supports the academic mission of the institution.

Intentionally pursue avenues for infusing academic connections and learning experiences in the residential environment for all students.

Collaborate with faculty and staff within academic programs (FIGs, RAPs, and LLCs) to strengthen academic partnerships and linkages.

Actively seek out opportunities for student leadership and involvement including advising Hall Council, and supporting RHA and NRHH initiatives.

Human Resource Management

Coach, mentor, supervise and develop staff to become effective student leaders and conduct all performance reviews and mentorship sessions as appropriate.

Support recruitment, hiring, and training processes for student and professional staff and actively seek opportunities for inclusive practice in all facets of human resource development.

Facilitate Residence Life communication efforts across all community staff positions.

Student Conduct

Serve as a student conduct hearing officer for departmental and university level violations and pursue opportunities for student learning within community impact.

Interpret and implement residence hall and university policy and regulations and seek proactive approaches to communicating with students.

Maintain the Maxient database for student conduct, crisis, and students of concern.

Emergency Response

Serve in an on-call rotation for 7,000+ residents and provide crisis management assistance and follow up.

Identify students of concern in the community and facilitate connection with university resources as appropriate.

Uphold all departmental and university crisis response policies and procedures.

Operations & Administration

Maintain regular interaction with facilities, environmental services, dining, occupancy management, and other key university partners.

Management of roommate agreements, mediation, and room change processes.

Lead all aspects of the safety and security of a residential environment.

Coordinate processes such as community move-in, safety checks, damage billing, and move out.

Fiduciary over community budgets.

Support the management and operation of community centers.

External Relations

Serve as a good steward and representative of Residential Programs and Services on university committees and task forces.

Partner aggressively with student affairs and university offices to support the needs of students.

Assist with student retention and persistence efforts.

Master’s degree.

One year of direct professional experience working with college students.

Proven experience and commitment to diversity, inclusion and intercultural competence.

What We Would Like You To Have

Experience in crisis management and supervision.

Experience developing and implementing academic initiatives, budget management, advising and divisional collaboration.
