This position is part-time and limited to no more than an average of 30 hours a week in a twelve-month period.Job Summary:Duties and Responsibilities

Provide animal care related to ongoing studies

Maintain tissue culture cell lines and primary cell culture (animal and human)

Perform experiments related to ongoing studies in animals and cells

Protein assays, western blotting, flow cytometry, PCR, genotyping

Microscopy, Immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence

RNA isolation and cDNA prep for qPCR or RNAseq

Review, develop and implement new or modified laboratory techniques required for research projects

Trouble-shoot and problem-solve research work

Analyze experimental results and prepare data for publication in peer-reviewed journals and for presentation at scientific meetings

Keep a detailed laboratory notebook, accurately collecting records of experiments

Present data and journal articles

Conduct literature searches

Prepare reagents for routine laboratory work

Assist with setting up and managing the lab

Perform daily maintenance of laboratory equipment

Properly track and document the chemicals used in the laboratory

Maintain all applicable laboratory safety certifications

Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology or a closely related discipline

Preferred Qualifications:

1-2 years previous experience in a Biomedical Lab

Master's degree in Molecular Biology or a closely related discipline

Experience in tissue culture

Experience in animal work

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Excellent verbal, written, and basic computational skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office

We study the role of mitochondria and metabolism in fibroblast biology in the context of aberrant injury repair and aging. Our current specific focus is on the role of the glycolytic enzyme PGK1 in the cytoplasm and mitochondrial compartments. We use transgenic mice, mouse and human primary cell culture to understand these processes in human diseases such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. : Work will include, but not be limited to:
