Education and Skills Requirements:
- 2-5 years of experience in diesel mechanics.
- Must have a personal toolset; diagnostic and manufacturer-specific tools are provided.
- A high school diploma or equivalent GED is preferred but not required.
- Vocational education or certification is advantageous.
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
- Maintain a professional appearance.
- Strong math skills for effective problem-solving.
- Clear communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus.
Position Responsibilities:
- Accurately document equipment maintenance, repairs, and fuel levels.
- Notify the supervisor of any warranty issues before repairs commence.
- Complete work orders for both internal and external repairs.
- Report equipment failures and safety violations to the supervisor.
- Diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions.
- Utilize professional troubleshooting techniques for effective repairs.
- Maintain company vehicles.
- Assist yard, warehouse, and delivery staff as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Working Conditions:
- Extended periods of standing.
- Work in both indoor and outdoor environments, including areas without heating or air conditioning.
- Regular interaction with coworkers and the public.
- Frequent lifting, walking, bending, and handling of objects of varying weights and sizes.
- Exposure to chemicals such as gasoline, diesel fuel, propane, kerosene, and cleaning solvents. A strong sense of smell is necessary due to potential hazards associated with propane.
