HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain and update employee files and documentation in compliance with California farm labor laws and company policies

Assist in recruiting and onboarding for production workers

Coordinate new hire orientations and ensure completion of required documentation (I-9, W-4, safety policies, etc.)

Maintain accurate timekeeping records and assist with payroll processing in coordination with leadership

Track and manage employee absences, sick leave, and time off in accordance with California labor codes (e.g., CA Paid Sick Leave)

Assist with coordinating and processing terminations

Support workplace safety programs and assist with Cal/OSHA compliance documentation

Provide administrative support for employee relations, including documentation of disciplinary actions and investigations

Communicate with Spanish-speaking employees and translate HR materials as needed (Spanish proficiency preferred

Assist with benefit administration and open enrollment

Respond to HR-related inquiries from employees, leads, and supervisors

Education/Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or a related field preferred

At least 1-2 years of relevant administrative or HR-related experience.

Experience with HRIS systems such as ADP, Dayforce, or Kronos (preferred but not required)

Skills & Competencies

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Bilingual in Spanish is required

Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Excellent written and verbal communication

High level of confidentiality and professionalism

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

Approximately 95% of work is performed in an office environment and 5% of work is performed in the farm. This position requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods, use hands for repetitive tasks, and lift materials up to 25 pounds. Occasional travel to agricultural sites may be required, involving walking over uneven terrain and exposure to outdoor elements.
