Job Description:
We are looking for a dedicated and energetic Line Cook to join our kitchen team at Immigrant Son Cafe in Ventura. As a Line Cook, you will work directly under the supervision of the Head Chef and Kitchen Manager to prepare high-quality dishes in a fast-paced environment. Your role will focus on ensuring food is cooked to perfection, following recipes and presentation standards, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook food items according to the restaurant’s recipes and quality standards
- Set up and stock stations with all necessary ingredients and equipment
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen workspace at all times
- Ensure proper food safety and sanitation practices are followed
- Work efficiently in a team environment to ensure timely and accurate food delivery
- Handle all kitchen equipment safely and responsibly
- Assist in inventory management and reporting of kitchen supplies
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations
- Communicate effectively with front-of-house staff to meet customer needs
- Keep up-to-date with new food trends, techniques, and menu changes
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a line cook or in a similar kitchen role preferred
- Strong understanding of cooking techniques, knife skills, and kitchen equipment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of food quality and cleanliness
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work weekends and holidays
- A passion for cooking and a willingness to learn and grow
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs)
- Comfort working in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment
