Construction Supervisor / Project Engineer(Telecom)Full time / Direct HireJob Location - Union City, CA & San Jose, CAWe are currently seeking a full-time, motivated Construction Supervisorto plan, direct, coordinate, and schedule construction-related activities in a major telecommunications project. Must be able to participate in a cross-functional team environment in the development and oversight of construction-related tasks.General Responsibilities: (include but are not limited to)
- Knowledge and a solid understanding of Federal, State, local and company safety policies and assist in the continued development of a Safety Culture in the workplace;
- Determine resource needs and allocate as necessary to meet project requirements;
- Resource scheduling to meeting project milestone dates;
- Interpret and explain project plans and specifications to staff to ensure understanding and compliance with specifications;
- Direct and supervise internal and subcontracted workforce;
- An understanding of aerial and underground utility construction means and methods appropriate to the specifications of the project;
- Track and report all internal and subcontracted resources and report daily/weekly/monthly production as it relates to the overall project schedule;
- Prepare and submit budget estimates, progress and cost tracking reports;
- Requisition supplies and materials, as required by supply chain management, to complete construction projects;
- Communicate with supervisory personnel, owners, subcontractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as procedures, complaints and construction challenges;
- Investigate all construction-related claims and delays toensure proper procedures are being implemented and enacted.
- Bachelor's degree in construction management or equivalent;
- 3-5+ years of Telecommunications construction management experience;
- Proven computer skills for communication, scheduling, budgeting, and forecasting;
- High level of analytical thinking skills to plan and forecast work;
- Self-motivated;
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal);
- An understanding of utility construction installation methodologies, blueprint reading, and understanding of requirement/specification technical requirements;
- A solid understanding of critical path methodology to ensure timely delivery of milestone tasks';
- Experience in the local Bay Area Market;
- Possess a CDL Class A driver's license;
- Ability to talk with customers' inspectors and have a sense of customer service;
- Experience in operating heavy equipment and general construction; Precise hand-eye coordination as well as clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships;
- Ability to identify and distinguish colors as that pertains to the job site, blueprints, etc.
- This role operates in a hybrid office/field environment and could include weekends depending on the demands of the project;
- This role routinely requires extended periods of sitting, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, twisting, reaching above shoulder level;
- It might include some working in confined spaces, working off a pole or in a bucket for supervision purposes;
- At times works in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, fog, wind, etc. for 10-hour workdays, with breaks depending on the job specification;
- This position can be physically active, with possibly some lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 100 pounds with assistance.
