Our mission is described simply as: "A Relentless Pursuit of Excellence.” The company has become renowned for its collaboration with owners of the air-cooled Porsche 911 in pursuit of bespoke restorations.Industrial EngineerPosition SummaryUnder direct leadership, the Industrial Engineer II is responsible for the creation of standard work by creating, clarifying, and sharing information about the most efficient method to perform a task in a manner that demonstrates, "Everything is Important."This is a dynamic position that requires the ability to create and manage project timelines while driving improvement in all areas with a focus on safety, quality, cost, and delivery with little guidance from Management. As an Industrial Engineer, you will be a major contributor in defining manufacturing planning templates, own process definition, quality standards and cost reduction initiatives. You will also be responsible for creating lean part flow through production resources and implementing these resources in a new facility. Finally, you will perform at the above level while coaching team members where applicable.This position is onsite in Torrance, CA.Essential Functions

Develops the company’s standards related to manufacturing processes, efficiency, waste reduction, cycle time/throughput improvement, quality assurance, etc.

Creates efficient assembly processes and improve throughput using industrial engineering methods such as time studies/estimations and line balancing techniques

Authors and releases detailed work instructions for manufacturing and assembly processes, using appropriate CAD, visual aids, and annotations, including in-process specification and quality checks

Designs efficient layouts (2D and 3D) for assembly stations and lines, buffer locations, docks and warehousing, material flow, shipping, etc.

Plans and implements efficient material flow of parts using various methods, such as congestion & Euclidean layouts, kitting/sequencing methods, value added delivery methods from 3PLs, etc.

Performs process analysis and simulation (Discrete Event Simulation) to validate and establish process cycle times, throughputs, buffers, failure rates, etc.

Drives efforts to reduce waste and non-value-added activity in assembly processes and establish lean manufacturing culture

Maintains a PFEP for lineside presentation and delivery of parts and define delivery methods, part presentation, and establish line side min-max quantities

Provides industrial engineering expert input to cross-functional engineering projects with product, engineering, supply chain, and other manufacturing teams as necessary

Participates as a subject matter expert in all high-level strategic discussions related to manufacturing, such as capacity planning, forecasting and ramp up calculations, value stream mapping, buffers between processes, etc.

Provides inputs and support to manufacturing systems (MES, WMS, etc.) development efforts within the company

Performs other duties as assigned

QualificationsRequired Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (industrial, mechanical, or manufacturing)

1-2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment performing industrial engineering tasks

Demonstrated ability to drive projects with diverse teams in a high-volume manufacturing environment

Experience working in a manufacturing environment, with emphasis on manufacturing planning, material flow, and process improvement

Experience with automotive chassis fabrication, paint, interior and trim, sub-assembly, and general assembly

Good understanding of BOMs, manufacturability, process design, process validation, assembly methods, design reviews and cost reduction methodologies

Demonstrated results with lean principles, VSM, 5S, etc.

Layout development experience (AutoCAD or similar 2D/3D software)

Time-study and pre-determined time standards experience (MODAPTS, MOST, etc.)

Preferred Education/Experience and/or Certifications

Discrete Event Simulation (Flexsim or similar)

Prior experience with Porsche vehicles (earlier models)

Prior experience in a rapid growth environment

Skills/Abilities and Attributes

Strong ability to coach and lead fellow team members within the department

Leads inter-departmental collaboration and communication to drive projects forward

Extensive detailed material flow analysis experience to make data-influenced decisions and summarize results to present from techs on the floor to leadership

Experience with developing, optimizing, and analyzing assembly and test processes

Strong project management skills

Experience driving cross-functional change within large organizations

Experience bringing teams and processes from a development phase to full production

Experience designing greenfield facility layouts and/or material flow strategy

Strong mechanical intuition and extensive hands-on experience modifying jigs, fixtures, and coordinating equipment installations

Advanced knowledge and experience with industrial engineering methods such as lean manufacturing methods, takt/cycle time calculations, throughput, buffer development, process flow, standard work instructions, ergonomic work layouts, time standards (MODAPTS, MOST, MTM), Value Stream Mapping, pull systems (Kanban), waste reduction, etc.

Experience with manufacturing engineering methods such as Design for Manufacturing, root cause analyses, Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEAs),

Ability to use engineering tools such as simulation (FlexSim or similar), flow planning (FactoryFlow, Flow Planner, etc.), Process planning software, etc.

Must be able to read and/or create CAD documents, including parts/components models, 3D CAD (Catia, Solidworks, etc.), and create layouts (AutoCAD)

Comfortable working with BOMs, enterprise and manufacturing systems (PLM, ERP, MES, WMS, etc.), Material planning documents (PFEP, MRP), etc.

Able to adapt to a fast-paced work environment

Possesses presentation skills and communicates clearly and professionally at various levels both inside and outside the company

Effective written and verbal communications skills; ability to express ideas clearly and actively listen to others

Team oriented, with a strong ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment to multiple deadlines

Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize effectively and efficiently

Excellent time management with an ability to balance multiple projects and timelines and to meet deadlines

Positive attitude and strong work ethic

Physical Demands/Work Environment

Must be able to travel for business, including occasional travel by commercial airplane

Must be able to work and stand on concrete for extended periods

Must be able to reach in and work safely in and around vehicles

Must be able to speak clearly and distinctly, hear, and be heard and understood in person

Must be able to work in a busy/fast paced automotive shop environment

Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs., infrequent lifting of up to 50 lbs.

Must be able to work in a seated, standing, and/or walking position for long periods of time

Must be able to use fingers, hands, and arms at computer keyboard for extended periods

Speak clearly and distinctly and hear and be heard and understood in person and by telephone

Must be able to work extended hours

Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the production environment

CompensationThe starting salary range for this position is between $69,120 - $87,100 per year, plus an annual bonus plan.
