Description Job SummaryWe are seeking a proactive and experienced HR Generalist to join our team at a Higher Education Institution. The HR Generalist will support various human resources functions and contribute to the effective management of HR operations within a higher education environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HR practices, exceptional communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive workplace.Key ResponsibilitiesRecruitment and Onboarding:

Manage the recruitment process, including posting job openings, screening resumes, coordinating interviews, and liaising with hiring managers.

Facilitate onboarding for new employees, ensuring they receive a comprehensive orientation and have a smooth transition into the institution.

Employee Relations:

Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns, providing guidance and resolving issues in a timely manner.

Assist in managing employee performance evaluations, feedback processes, and conflict resolution.

Compliance and Policy Management:

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, as well as institutional policies.

Assist in the development, implementation, and updating of HR policies and procedures to align with institutional goals and legal requirements.

Benefits and Compensation:

Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other benefits, and respond to related inquiries.

Assist with compensation management, including salary benchmarking and adjustments based on performance and institutional guidelines.

Training and Development:

Coordinate and facilitate training and professional development programs for staff and faculty.

Support the creation and maintenance of training materials and development plans.

HR Administration:

Maintain and update employee records and HR databases, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.

Prepare and process HR documents, reports, and correspondence as needed.

Diversity and Inclusion:

Support diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within the institution.

Assist in organizing events and programs that promote an inclusive and supportive work environment.

General Support:

Provide general administrative support to the HR department and assist with various HR projects as required.

Contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment that aligns with the institution’s mission and values.

Requirements

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

Proven experience as an HR Generalist or in a similar HR role, preferably within a higher education institution.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Strong understanding of HR principles, employment laws, and best practices.

Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.

Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

Experience with HR software and databases is a plus.

Knowledge of higher education-specific regulations and practices is advantageous.
