Position: Senior Diesel Mechanic
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and dependable Senior Diesel Mechanic to join our maintenance team in Cambria, CA. This role requires a highly skilled professional with seven or more years of experience in diesel and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) engines. The ideal candidate will have strong diagnostic skills, extensive mechanical knowledge, and a commitment to maintaining the safety and efficiency of our fleet.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine maintenance and inspections on diesel-powered buses, including oil changes, brake inspections, tire rotations, and fluid checks.
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, including engine, transmission, suspension, and other critical components.
Repair or replace defective parts, including engines, electrical systems, brakes, and exhaust systems.
Conduct comprehensive diagnostic tests using specialized tools and software.
Perform emergency repairs to minimize vehicle downtime and maintain service reliability.
Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair work, including parts used and labor hours.
Ensure compliance with all local safety standards and regulations.
Adhere to company policies regarding equipment safety, scheduled maintenance, and inspections.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring proper disposal of hazardous materials.
Communicate effectively with supervisors and management regarding repair statuses and required parts or resources.
Stay current with advancements in diesel and CNG engine technology and repair techniques.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; certification in diesel mechanics or related training preferred.
Minimum of seven years of experience as a diesel mechanic, with a strong focus on bus or large vehicle maintenance.
Extensive knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, air brakes, and electrical systems.
Experience working with Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) engines.
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in using diagnostic tools and software.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service bulletins.
Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety and quality standards.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred).
Physical ability to lift heavy parts, kneel, and work in confined spaces as needed.
Schedule:
Monday to Friday: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Availability for overtime when necessary.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $43.00 - $47.00 per hour
