Job Summary
-The Lead Painter manages painting and drywall patching projects, leading 1-2 painters while delivering expert fine finishes, staining, and rolling. This role emphasizes training team members to uphold JM Construction’s quality standards.
Project Types
-Commercial Interiors and Exteriors - Private and Prevailing Wage.
-Residential Interiors and Exteriors - New Builds, Remodels & additions, Repaints, Cabinet staining and finishing, etc.
Responsibilities
Technical Skills
-Apply fine finishes using spray techniques for smooth, high-quality results.
-Perform staining on various surfaces, ensuring consistent and professional outcomes.
-Execute expert drywall patching and surface preparation for seamless repairs.
-Roll paint to achieve flawless finishes on walls, ceilings, and other surfaces.
Leadership
-Lead and supervise a team of 1-2 painters, ensuring quality and timely project completion.
-Train and mentor team members on painting techniques, safety protocols, and best practices.
-Coordinate with project managers and clients to meet project requirements and deadlines.
-Inspect work for quality control and compliance with project specifications.
Safety and Compliance
-Maintain tools, equipment, and job site cleanliness per OSHA and company standards.
-Ensure compliance with California safety regulations (Cal/OSHA, Title 8), including lead safety and fall protection training.
-Use appropriate PPE for spray painting, staining, and other hazardous tasks.
Qualifications
-5+ years of professional painting experience, with expertise in fine finish spraying, staining, and rolling.
-2+ years of experience leading and training small teams (1-2 painters).
-Expert in drywall patching and surface preparation for seamless repairs.
-Strong knowledge of paint types, application methods, and safety practices.
-Valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record (company vehicle provided).
-Ability to read and interpret blueprints and project specifications.
-Excellent communication and leadership skills.
-Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in various conditions.
-Preferred: Bilingual in English and Spanish for effective team and client communication.
Compensation
-Competitive hourly wage (non-exempt, overtime eligible per California law) or salary (exempt, minimum $66,560/year), based on experience.
