ABOUT THE POSITION: The City of Monterey currently has one (1) Building Maintenance Worker vacancy located at Camp Roberts, in San Luis Obispo County, which is a secure military facility. The Building Maintenance Worker is an entry-level position that is expected to perform a variety of basic-level custodial and maintenance duties in the General Services Division of the Public Works Department. The General Services Division is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all facilities managed for our Army partners under our Intergovernmental Support Agreement (IGSA). This specific vacancy is located at Camp Roberts, just north of the City of Paso Robles. Building Maintenance Workers will work as part of a team and independently and are responsible to provide quality customer service to both internal and external customers. This position may be assigned to work shifts outside of the standard 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. work hours.

As part of the recruitment process, candidates who are determined to meet the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities will be required to participate in a hands-on skills assessment that will test their custodial, painting, basic carpentry, basic plumbing, and basic electrical capabilities.

Salary: $53,496.00 - $71,664.00 Annually

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.

Experience: One (1) year experience in building equipment maintenance work.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION:

Must possess a valid California Driver’s License upon time of appointment and be insurable with the City’s standard insurance rate, unless otherwise approved by appointing authority.
