About the Position
Are you passionate about hospitality and dedicated to supporting seniors? If so, we’d love to connect with you! Meals that Connect, a local nonprofit organization, provides hot noontime meals to seniors. With 9 dining sites across San Luis Obispo County, we serve both congregate meals and deliver packaged meals to seniors’ homes. Hours for the position are Monday- Friday, 8 am to 1 pm.
Key Responsibilities:
Verbal and Written Communication: Excellent communication skills in English are essential, and bilingual proficiency in Spanish is a bonus.
Senior Nutrition: Familiarity with the general purpose, operations, and philosophy of senior nutrition.
Food Safety: Basic principles of safe and sanitary food handling.
Elder Abuse Reporting: Awareness of reporting procedures related to elder abuse.
You will be supporting TWO sites. Your miles will be reimbursed
Skills:
Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with staff, volunteers, and older clients.
Food Presentation: Skill in presenting food in a safe and appetizing manner.
Technology: Proficiency in using Google Suite applications.
Abilities:
Follow Instructions: Adherence to site manager instructions.
Learn and Report: Willingness to learn our client intake and meal tracking computer program and prepare reports.
Volunteer Coordination: Calling volunteers to schedule drivers and provide daily instructions.
Client Interaction: Conducting client intake and follow-up assessments in person and over the phone.
Qualifications:
Health: Must be free of communicable diseases that are food or air borne.
Transportation: Reliable transportation for client visits.
Hygiene: Maintain good personal hygiene.
