POSITION SUMMARY
Our Bar Lead position provides on-going staff training, leads the bar team to develop our seasonal
cocktail menu, stays up to date on trends and new products, and plays an important role in running a
profitable bar business. This is a key employee leadership role, meaning that our Bar Lead has the
responsibility for closing the restaurant, handling cash, and supervising other team members. This lead
role will be trained to place weekly orders for both The Hatch and our sister restaurant Della's, work with
the bar team to create and execute seasonal menu updates and drive a bar prep schedule that
maximizes efficiency and minimizes waste. We're looking for a team player with an outgoing personality,
a background in craft bartending, and a record of acquiring and retaining bar regulars.
This is a full-time role with 4-5 shifts for the right candidate.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the bar team to develop cocktail recipes utilizing seasonal produce and interesting spirits,
while staying mindful of The Hatch brand and taste/buying habits of our consumers
Develop new team members and provide on-going technique and product knowledge training to
existing bar staff
Make recommendations on new and/or interesting products to round out our offerings
Create nightly specials designed to move specific product
Serve consistently good cocktails, offer wine and beer food-pairing advice, and keep ever
mindful of responsible beverage service
Collaborate with Chef de Cuisine to cross-utilize interesting culinary items as cocktail
components
Collaborate with Management to develop offerings that drive business or increase check average
Responsible for closing the restaurant on designated closing shifts, including cash handling and
the supervision of other employees.
Display a passion for hospitality and the Central Coast lifestyle
Keep a clean bar, strictly adhering to established sanitation, safety and hygiene guidelines
Cultivate and retain a dedicated bar clientele
Build and maintain relationships and open communication with all staff: culinary team, front of
house and management
Demonstrate high personal integrity, business ethics and take every opportunity to promote the
restaurant
QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of 3 years’ experience bartending and waiting tables
A strong knowledge of classic cocktails, spirits, beer and wine, especially those products sourced
from the Central Coast
A strong understanding (or willingness to learn) of whiskies produced around the world.
A strong understanding (or willingness to learn) of gins produced around the world.
RBS certified
Proven success in garnering a regular clientele
An inherent knack for gracious hospitality and have a proven record of exhibiting that trait to
guests and colleagues alike
