Small fine garden care company is seeking an experienced professional gardener with a passion for plants and creating beauty. We provide organic care and maintenance with a strong focus on the health of the plants, soil and overall landscape. We occasionally do small installations.
We are looking for someone with a clear understanding about what makes a landscape shine. Must be willing to work hard and briskly for extended periods of time, both independently and as part of a team. This is a part-time position, two days per week to start, with potential for increased days over time.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years professional experience in fine garden care
Pruning skills for perennials and woody shrubs
Good eye for detail
Strong communication skills
Experience with drip systems and some familiarity with programming controllers
Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn and adapt
Some horticultural classes/education or a strong personal interest in horticulture
Driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from job sites and occasional errands
Responsibilities - Organic care of primarily ornamental, residential gardens (overall direction and support is provided by company owner):
Communication with owner and other crew regarding onsite work details
Identifying and prioritizing tasks onsite within a seasonally changing environment
Fast and efficient weeding, deadheading and debris clean up
Identifying pest and disease issues and applying appropriate organic remedies
Seasonal cutting back of perennials and pruning shrubs for size and shape
Maintenance of drip irrigation systems including minor repairs and adjusting controller programs
Lifting and carrying loads up to 50 lbs.
Pay rate is $35-$40 per hour, depending on experience. Two days per week to start. Potential for increased days over time.
