Job Description:

The Mechanic's Assistant is responsible for supporting the lead mechanic in performing routine maintenance, repairs, and servicing of company vehicles and heavy equipment. This role ensures all machinery operates efficiently and safely to support daily operations. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and eager to learn.

Duties & Responsibilities:

- Assist the lead mechanic in the maintenance and repair of trucks, loaders, forklifts, and other heavy equipment.

- Perform oil changes, filter replacements, tire inspections, and basic mechanical tasks.

- Maintain a clean and organized workspace in the mechanic's area.

- Assist in diagnosing mechanical issues and conducting minor repairs.

- Follow safety protocols when working with tools, machinery, and hazardous materials.

- Document maintenance activities and report significant issues to the lead mechanic.

- Help order, receive, and inventory mechanical parts and supplies.

- Support emergency repairs to ensure operational efficiency.

- Operate company vehicles and equipment as needed for maintenance tasks.

- Keep the workspace clean and always organized.

- Follow company dress code: safety gear, steel-toed boots, and high-visibility clothing.

- The use of headphones is strictly prohibited.

- Proactively assist other team members and contribute to overall store efficiency beyond assigned duties.

- Employees may be required to perform other job-related duties as assigned.

- Career Growth Opportunity: Eligible for promotion to Mechanic or Maintenance Supervisor within 12-24 months.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

Experience: 1-2 years in mechanical work, vehicle maintenance, or a related field.

Skills: Basic mechanical knowledge, attention to detail, and ability to troubleshoot.

Certifications: None required, but automotive or diesel mechanic experience is a plus.

Personality: Hardworking, problem-solving, safety-conscious, and eager to learn.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift to 50 lbs. and work in outdoor conditions.
