OVERVIEW
The Judicial Council of California is accepting applications for the position of Media Technician for the Conference and Print Production office in the AV Technical Services unit.
As a government body charged with improving the statewide administration of justice, the Judicial Council has multiple offices with diverse responsibilities relating to court policy and operations. As employees of the council, every member of staff should view and approach their work as one Judicial Council with a public service mission that is greater than the sum of its parts.
The Media Technician provides AV logistical support for meetings and programs, with a primary focus on off-site events requiring travel throughout the state. These tasks include, maintenance, transport, installation, operation, and dismantle of state-owned AV equipment; some video production support (video gear and mixer operation, limited staging); videoconference and web based or hybrid event support; conference room AV technical support, and operation of both installed and portable AV equipment. Some minimal on-site support within San Francisco and/or Sacramento conference centers may also be required throughout the year.
This position is an hourly and on-call, intermittent position which may require overnights and weekend availability.
The Judicial Council
The Judicial Council of California is the policy setting body for the state court system and has constitutionally conferred statewide rule-making authority. This authority includes developing, advocating for, and allocating the judicial branch budget. A majority of Council members are California state justices and judges; however, the Council also includes lawyers, legislators, and court administrators.

The successful candidate will be expected to work in person at the Judicial Council’s San Francisco office and reside in the area surrounding this location.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide professional AV support for off-site programs/conferences.
Meet with service requestors to evaluate AV needs, provide AV-related guidance, best practices and available options.
Participate in site inspections with customer to determine event and AV-related design.
Inspect, organize, load and transport AV equipment.
Provide on-site support within SF and Sacramento-based conference centers and/or offices.
Provide general AV support to on-site meetings requiring faculty support and set-up of conference phones, computers, LCD projectors, screens, microphones, speakers, etc.
Work with faculty and presenters to help test and facilitate their presentations.
Provide AV technical support for remotely delivered programs.
Familiarize self with videoconference platforms such as Zoom for Government, MS Teams, etc. and provide technical support for remote/hybrid meetings.
Meet with service requestors to evaluate AV needs, provide AV-related guidance, best practices and available features for platform of choice.
Assist with oversight of agency-owned AV equipment: e.g., organization, inventorying, storage, labeling, decommissioning process, etc.
Setup lights and stage a studio or remote location for video productions.
Act as lead of other on-site Media Technicians as assigned.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Attend and participate in program specific pre-planning meetings.
Attend staff meetings.
Satisfy Judicial Council education requirements.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Two (2) years of broadcast and/or audio-visual systems experience.
OR
Associate’s degree, preferably in broadcast or media technology, computer science or directly related field. Additional directly related experience and/or education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
LICENSING AND CERTIFICATIONS
Valid driver’s license, as assigned.

$5,450 - $7,629 per month
(Starting Pay: $31.44 hourly wage)
