PFAS LC-3Q Chemist

McCampbell Analytical, Inc. (MAI), a full-service environmental analytical laboratory located in Pittsburg, CA (SF Bay Area), is seeking an experienced LC-3Q chemist or a trainable LC, GC/LC-MS chemist to join our PFAS analysis group.

Job Overview:

The candidate must be a skilled chemist with experience in LC-3Q or a trainable chemist with experience in LC/GC/MS to join our PFAS team full-time for a Monday through Friday shift. All new staff will be trained by our senior analysts.

This position reports to our PFAS lead and Lab Manager.

Responsibilities and Duties:

The analyst’s primary responsibilities are to prepare standards, analyze calibrations/quality control criteria, and samples, and review and report data. The analyst will be trained to become familiar with the PFAS extractions and instrument troubleshooting and repair. Possible method development may become future responsibilities within the LC-MS department.

Qualifications:

A four-year college degree in chemistry or other closely related science discipline.

The candidate must be comfortable working in a laboratory and should far exceed basic lab skills such as weighing, pipetting and diluting.

Minimum 1-year experience with LC-3Q or 3 years with LC/GC/MS with a high level of competence.

Experience with different software types for instrument control, data flow, and data storage (LIMS) as well as general computer competence including MS EXCEL.

Attention to detail is crucial in minimizing errors and maintaining workplace safety.

Willingness to learn from others as well as having others learn from you.

Clear and concise communication with Project Managers and co-workers.

Teamwork-driven personality with a strong work ethic. Ability to work independently and as directed by the Department lead.

Excellent organizational and time management skills. Multi-tasking is essential as our lab tends to be very busy.
