Seer, Inc. seeks Engineer III, Automation in Redwood City, CA.
Responsible for developing next-generations of our flagship automation assay platform. More specific duties include: translating biological assays onto automated platforms as part of process and/or product development pipelines; testing, troubleshooting, and performing operational analysis and diagnostics for Seer’s automation product (based on Hamilton STAR line); developing, validating, and meticulously documenting the reproducibility and robustness of methods; implementing continuous improvements to our existing functionality and methods to enhance usability, consistency, and speed based on feedback from our commercial and assay teams; collaborating with software groups to ensure seamless interplay between automation’s methods and customer-facing scripts and graphical user interface; establishing best practices, SOPs, and QC guidelines, including operational qualification (OQ) and diagnostics methods, to verify instrument performance; reviewing the root causes of software and hardware failures in concert with field service and systems engineering teams, then implementing fixes and mitigations; writing scripts to measure metrics of assay performance across time and across instruments; performing instrument maintenance and repairs with automation service engineers to resolve production problems; and other duties as assigned. Wage range: $120K-$150K.
Education: Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, or related field (or foreign equivalent).
Requirements: Two (2) years of experience in the job offered or related experience. Other special requirements: Two (2) years of experience designing, executing, and analyzing data from experiments to validate the efficacy of automated methods and protocols in biotech and pharmaceutical industries; two (2) years of experience in version control with Git, and programming in languages such as C# or Python; two (2) years of experience translating manual assay workflows into automated processes in wet lab environments; two (2) years of experience writing and validating key technical documentation, such as SOPs, IQ, and OQ documents for lab automation processes; and two (2) years of experience leading Root cause and Failure analysis investigations for hardware and process related issues and failures.
