Schedule & Role Overview:
School hours: M–F, 8:45am–12:45pm (follows SFUSD calendar)
Teacher-Director hours: Approx. 7am–2pm M–F, with approx. 2 hours of evening meetings/month and 2-3 half days on weekend events per semester
8-week unpaid summer break; includes 1 paid week before and 1 paid week after for setup and wrap-up
Onsite presence required; some admin work and meetings may be completed offsite
Key Responsibilities:
Teach daily in a play-based classroom and lead curriculum development
Supervise parent/caregivers volunteers.Conduct twice-yearly child assessments and parent conferences
Organize parent education, onboarding, and training, or delegate to parent workers
Manage preschool operations: licensing compliance, enrollment, and facilities
Collaborate closely with the Parent-led Board on budgeting, strategic planning, and outreach
Communicate proactively with families; in charge of newsletters, updates, and in-person meetings
Liaise with SF Rec & Park/landlords for site upkeep or delegate to parent workers
Represent TelHi Co-op at parent-organized open houses and community events (in-person/virtual) as needed
Required Qualifications:
At least 24 units of ECE/CD plus 16 units of General Education or CA CTC Teacher Permit Or Associate's degree with 24 units of ECE with 6 units management/administration and two units supervision or CA CTC Site Supervisor Permit, (Alternate Teacher/Director qualifications considered within the Child Development Permit Matrix).
Candidates also must comply with all other legal requirements and complete any required courses (e.g. CPR/First Aid) needed as a preschool teacher and Teacher-Director in California. Candidates must stay up-to-date with COVID-19 vaccinations.
CPR, First Aid, Mandated Reporter, and Healthy Schools Act certifications (or willingness to complete), and Fingerprint clearance
Proof of TB clearance, and up-to-date flu, COVID, pertussis, and measles vaccinations
Computer literacy and record-keeping skills
Strong communication and leadership qualities
Preferred Qualities:
Experience in a play-based preschool and/or co-op environment
Background in child development, brain development, and emergent curriculum
Creative, flexible, and collaborative mindset
Familiarity with working with a Board of Directors or a nonprofit structure
Passion for community engagement and responsive teaching
Compensation & Benefits:
$60,000+/year DOE + potential bonus
27 paid days off: includes 12 PTO + 2 weeks winter break + 1 week spring break + 8 Government holidays
