Inventory Coordinator - Part Time

Excellent part-time opportunity (estimated 10 hours/week) for Marin County resident to work for a socially responsible organization with a mission to help those who are in need in our community.

Welcoming Home (WH) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit. We provide furniture and household goods for families and individuals in Marin and Sonoma counties who are transitioning out of homelessness and poverty. Referrals of families who need help come from local non-profit social service agencies who help these neighbors find affordable housing.

The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, organizational skills, excellent time management and have basic computer skills. They must also have good written and verbal communication skills. Candidate must have an SUV or larger, along with a valid driver’s license and insurance. They must be able to lift up to 35 pounds, as the position requires some manual labor. Must be able to work all day on specified Saturdays up to 15 specified Saturdays a year,

Key Responsibilities:

The position will be supervised by the Project Manager on a day-to-day basis. The ultimate reporting relationship will be to the two Welcoming Home founders. This position will carry out the following responsibilities in support of the organization’s mission:

1. Coordinate drop off/pick up of cleaning kits and starter kits. May also deliver these kits to clients’ homes in both Marin and Sonoma County.

2. Keep inventory of cleaning kits and assemble them when needed.

3. Maintain storage spaces in an organized manner at all times.

4. Pick up/deliver to storage small furniture item(s) that will fit in their personal SUV or larger and/or coordinate volunteer pick up/delivery of these items.

5. Attend “Welcomings” in Marin and Sonoma Counties on specified Saturdays up to twice a month (from 8:00 to 5:00), as well as occasionally on weekdays. Participate in accepting furniture and donation drop offs on the mornings of Welcomings, and installing furniture (not over 35 lbs), household goods etc. in homes, along with our volunteer teams.

6. Coordinate ordering/pick up of sandwich orders for volunteers/movers on all Welcoming days.

7. Drop off/pick up tools and supplies to/from volunteers on all Welcoming days.

8. Label items/furniture in storage units to ensure they go to the correct homes on Welcoming day. Meet professional movers at the storage unit on specified days/times to supervise pick up of furniture items being used on Welcoming days.

9. Respond to basic email inquiries re: furniture donations, etc.

10. Maintain/update online Virtual Inventory of furniture.

11. Become trained in the tasks performed by the other Inventory Coordinator to be able to fill in for them, if necessary.

12. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Strong affiliation with Welcoming Home’s mission

Minimum 2 years work/volunteer experience – non-profit experience a plus

Strong attention to detail/detail orientation

Excellent customer service skills

Basic computer skills

Good team player who can work with a diverse group of people

Resourceful problem solver

Committed and reliable

Tolerance for dealing with last minute changes/catastrophes with composure and good humor

Must have SUV-sized vehicle or larger and ability to pick up and deliver several small furniture pieces (folding tables, nightstands) at one time in Sonoma and Marin Counties.

Must feel comfortable working in a storage unit space

Must be able to carry at least 35 lbs., including up and down stairs.

Location/Work Hours:

1. Work at storage units up to 50% of the time, the rest from home or doing pick ups/deliveries. Participate on site at “Welcomings” in Marin and Sonoma Counties. .

2. Work schedule:

a. All Welcoming Days up to 8 hours/day. Position is estimated to take 10 hours/week. Actual hours worked vs. 10 hrs/week calculated just before end of each quarter. 10 hours/week pay guaranteed, any shortfall covered in last quarterly paycheck.

b. The two weeks before, and one week following each “Welcoming” Day may require up to 15 hours/week.

3. Travel mileage to and from the Marin storage units from home not covered, mileage from home to Welcoming Day morning site in Marin not covered; however, all other mileage for pick up and delivery to and from storage sites in Marin and Sonoma counties will be covered. Travel time will be covered, except for travel to storage from home and travel from home to Welcoming Day in Marin.

4. Must generally be available for quick turnaround projects.
