ABOUT THE JOB

We are looking for a part-time support worker for our Therapeutic Garden Program. Our

program utilizes the garden environment to support people with mental health diagnoses.

The hours are primarily Monday thru Friday, 12 – 4. The garden is in Novato. The

position pays $22 - $24 DOE. Learn more at www.connectICS.org.

​DUTIES

 Coach and support adults with disabilities in gardening skills

 Engage with the client in support of their mental health that can include active

listening; applying interventions to address things such as anxiety, depression,

social isolation and other mental health symptoms.

 Model and reinforce appropriate behavior, communication, and teamwork

 Provide feedback and encouragement in a respectful, supportive way

 Maintain accurate documentation and reports on participant progress

 Work closely with staff to create a positive, inclusive environment

SmartCare/Medi-Cal Billing:

In this role, you will be provided with training to learn SmartCare, the electronic health

records (EHR) system used for Medi-Cal documentation and service tracking.

 Develop proficiency in writing professional, Medi-Cal-compliant progress notes,

ensuring all documentation meets clinical and billing standards set by Marin

County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services.

 Accurately and consistently enter service notes and related documentation into

the SmartCare electronic health portal.

 Collaborate with clinical supervisors and administrative staff to maintain

compliance with data entry, billing, and confidentiality protocols as outlined by

Medi-Cal and county standards.

Skill Set desired

 Ability to work with complex mental health ​diagnoses using motivational

counseling techniques and problem-solving

 Proven and consistent record of meeting deadlines for reports and progress notes

 Use of good judgment, responsiveness to ever-changing needs and concerns

 Experience with Medi-Cal billing​, SmartCare ​and/or Peer Certified ​i​s a plus but

not required

Q​UALIFICATIONS

 Interest in working with individuals with mental health disabilities

 D​igital literacy skills:​Gmail, Zoom, MS Office, Google Docs​, Google Drive and the

ability to learn and apply the SmartCare system (see above)

 Excellent verbal and written skills

 Valid identification, such as Real ID, driver’s license, or passport, required. A​

background check will be conducted.

Part time:

 Commuter stipend up to $53/month, depending on distance of commute

 $25/month cell phone reimbursement

 Paid time off each year:

o Holidays: up to 10 days based on regularly scheduled work hours, plus 1

day you can use at any time

o Sick time: 40 hours

o Bereavement and reproductive loss leave: up to 3 days for each
