Camp Staff openings at Camp Oljato in the Sierras
Looking for a great outdoor summer job opportunity? Camp Oljato, a scout camp on Huntington Lake in the Sierras, is hiring! Come live on site in a gorgeous lakeside setting, teaching skills to 11-18 year olds and forming life long friendships with an outstanding staff.
Camp Oljato is a Scouting America camp that has been running since the 1940’s. The campers are boys and girls from diverse backgrounds, and the staff is coed as well. Prior scouting experience is helpful but not at all required. The job starts on June 15th (our staff training week) and then continues for 6 one-week sessions of campers, ending on August 3rd. We are looking for staff in the following areas in particular:
Waterfront staff: Instructing swimming, various boating classes, sailing, watersports, and similar skills.
Nature staff: Covering conservation, astronomy,
Outdoor Skills: Camping, campfire safety, knots and lashings, first aid, wilderness survival, knife and axe safety, etc.
Range and Targeting: Teaching Archery, rifle use and safety, shotgun skeet shooting, and so forth.
Program: Program Assistant, Head Commissioner (helping liaison between adult leaders and the camp staff)
Trading Post: Operating our camp store
This is a great opportunity for some summer employment, getting some interesting experience for your resume or college application, or just working somewhere really fun. Pay starts at around $500 per week and goes up from there depending upon the skills in the particular role. Minimum age is 16, but we have staff of all ages. All meals are provided.
