Title: Mid-Level to Senior Designer COMMERCIAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Reports to: Senior Designer + CEO
Location: Work from Home | San Francisco Bay Area
Company:
IDF Studio brings thoughtful, personalized style to residential and commercial clients in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. We aim to be a refreshing alternative to the typical “principal-based” interior design firm; we treat people like family and our projects are led by our various Lead Designers. We believe that honest problem-solving and great project management set our designers apart from the herd, resulting in winning projects that are both stylish and sincere.
Position:
IDF Studio values our ability to help clients of all shapes and sizes. From quick residential consulting jobs to ground-up new home construction, fast-turnaround office design projects to full-scale HQ renovations, the Designer is responsible for supporting all aspects of residential and commercial projects. We’re looking for that “triple threat” – someone who has a great sense of style, is an efficient project manager, and communicates well, leaving our clients wanting more!
We are currently open to hiring a mid-level to senior-level designer.
Mid-Level Designer responsibilities include supporting our Lead Designers with site measures, space planning, sourcing, budgeting, vendor/contractor communication and coordination, project installations, and styling. You may also assist with or oversee purchasing and expediting (alongside our dedicated purchasing agent). Over time, the Mid-Level Designer may run their own projects, with supervision provided by our senior staff.
Senior Designer responsibilities include running your own projects and and supporting other leads on their projects, as needed. The vast majority of your time will be project-based, however you will be asked to participate in operational tasks as needed, including new staff onboarding, design process improvements, performance reviews, and misc. PR activities including photo shoots. You will also take an active role in maximizing the firm’s productivity and profits by ensuring the team’s adherence to billable time goals, adjusting internal resources as needed, and proactively managing internal process.
Requirements:
Full-time access to a reliable car. Mileage is reimbursed at IRS standard rates.
Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or equivalent
Minimum 5 years of related experience for mid-level and 8 years for senior level – experience in commercial interior design is required, ideally including office design
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and construction documents
Experience using Studio Designer is ideal but not required
IDEX, NCIDQ, LEED, and/or similar certification or coursework a plus
Good balance of left brain and right brain skills – you should be creative AND organized
Excellent management and communication skills
Team player, positive attitude, strong desire to continually learn and grow
Excellent troubleshooting and prioritization skills; you are considered a ‘closer’ and get things done
Schedule:
IDF Studio’s “open for business” hours are 9am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. We would prefer a full-time hire but are open to candidates interested in part-time as well. Our team works from home and stays connected via phone, text, email, and Zoom. We also travel to job sites as needed for projects, and meet in person typically once a month (often at our Mill Valley HQ), and for fun social events, roughly 3x/year.
Compensation:
Pay is commensurate with experience. Benefits include group health insurance, matching 401k plan, vacation, sick time, holidays, and parental leave.
