We are seeking a talented and experienced Managing Editor to join our team. 270 Media, a boutique media company located in Sausalito California, is seeking a Managing Editor to traffic both print and digital content for our three brands: Marin Magazine, Local Getaways and SPACES
Responsibilities:
- Manage the editorial process from start to finish, including assigning topics, setting deadlines, and reviewing content
- Edit and proofread articles for grammar, style, clarity, and accuracy
- Collaborate with writers to develop compelling story ideas and angles
- Conduct research to ensure factual accuracy of content
- Ensure adherence to brand guidelines and maintain consistency in tone and style
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure timely publication of content
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments in order to provide guidance and support to the editorial team
- Work with the editorial team to plan and maintain content for 270 Media brands.
- Manage freelancers regarding contracts and deadlines — send contracts, tax forms, writers’ assignments and create folders for copy.
- Create Trello cards, link folders and move through the appropriate columns / boards.
- Edit content as it comes in and track on Trello.
- Ensure naming and sizing standards for images and files.
Experience:
- Proven experience as a Managing Editor or similar role
- Strong copywriting, word processing, and proofreading skills
- Excellent proposal writing skills with the ability to create compelling pitches
- Proficiency in AP style or other style guides
- Familiarity with SEO best practices
- Creative writing skills with the ability to craft engaging content
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with WordPress, Adobe InDesign, Trello, Microsoft Office, Google Sheets and Docs.
