We have an opening for a paralegal. We are a ten-attorney San Ramon litigation defense firm specializing in medical malpractice. No certificate is required but keen interest in the legal or medical field is a must. This is a great opportunity for someone just out of paralegal school or near the end of the term.
You should have a good work ethic, strong attention to detail, great communication skills, a good attitude and a sense of humor. You must have good computer skills, be organized and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with excellent follow-up. The work is very, very interesting but requires a great deal of discretion and confidentiality.
The work environment is supportive and collaborative. We have a robust document management system (Prolaw), which maximizes productivity both remotely and on-site. We have a high degree of autonomy and establish lasting relationships with our clients and other paralegals.
Responsibilities include:
Review and summarization of medical records
Preparation of motion and trial exhibits
Familiarity with discovery procedures, requests, and responses
Some subpoena preparation, including follow-up with HIMS or ROMI
Expert research and retention
Witness research and coordination
Trial and arbitration preparation
Very little overtime is required, but some may be necessary when preparing for trial or arbitration.
After an initial 90+ days in the office for onboarding and training, this position will likely transition to 3 days/week in-office, 2 days remote, if desired. Hours are 8:30 am – 5 pm. The salary range is $50,000 - $55,000, and full benefits.
If interested, please reply with your resume and salary requirement. Please include “Paralegal” in the subject line. A cover letter is not necessary but your email should provide some idea why you are interested in the position. No calls or drop-ins please.
