California, San francisco bay area
Aplica ya

BEESON, TAYER and BODINE, a 20-attorney Union-side labor law firm with offices in Oakland and Sacramento, has an opening for a legal secretary in our Oakland Office. This position is open now and would support two to three attorneys in our traditional labor & employment practice, including litigation, arbitration, NLRB/PERB, education, and benefits practices.

Our support staff works as a team with our attorneys in support of the labor movement as well as the rights of individual employees. The Oakland Office is comprised of highly motivated, committed, collaborative and professional individuals – we are looking to find another such person to join our team. For information about our firm, please see our website at www.beesontayer.com, or see us on social media @BTBLegal.

We are looking for someone who provides old-school support to their attorneys, while bringing modern abilities to the table. The ability to work independently and proactively is a must – as are superior communication skills. The successful candidate will be able to work cooperatively with attorneys and other staff, is extremely comfortable with technology and change, and can handle all aspects of a support position in a small office.

Other desired characteristics include excellent proofreading, a professional demeanor, good judgment, ability to prioritize deadlines, and exceptional attention to detail. Written and spoken fluency in Spanish would be helpful. Prior union-side experience with labor and employment/NLRB/PERB matters is desired, experience with ProLaw (or similar programs) is a plus. A job description will be provided to those chosen to interview.

Job Requirements: The position requires a minimum five years recent legal secretarial experience, including two years of recent and relevant litigation experience in state and federal courts. Significant experience with electronic document management, e-filing and computerized, rule-set based calendaring programs is also required. We will not consider applications that do not meet these minimum requirements.

Salary/Benefits: The starting hourly rate for this position is $55.45 ($100,930 annually for a thirty-five hour workweek). The rate of pay will increase after twelve months to $59.49 ($108,280). In addition, we offer an excellent benefit package which includes a traditional pension plan (5-year vesting period), 401(k) plan with matching contribution, commute/parking allowance, generous vacation and sick allowances, and 100% employer-paid family coverage (medical, dental and vision). Retiree medical coverage is also available after meeting certain requirements. Staff are collectively bargaining employees.

Interview Process: We hope to start interviews immediately. The first interview will be with the firm administrator and staff members. Three candidates will proceed to second interviews with the firm’s partners.

Staff are currently working from home 3 days a week, however, that may change at the discretion of the firm.

Beeson, Tayer and Bodine is an Equal Opportunity Employer and invites candidates from all backgrounds to apply. Please submit a cover letter and resume via email only. Please be prepared to provide references if selected to interview. No phone calls or in-person applications, please. All inquiries will be held in confidence.
