Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced attorney to join our team as a contract attorney/of counsel. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of unlawful detainer litigation experience in the San Francisco Bay Area. Candidates must have a deep understanding of the landlord-tenant and real estate law landscapes. As part of this role, you will have the opportunity to handle all stages of the unlawful detainer process, from drafting notices to tenants all the way through trial, and work directly with clients in a fast-paced, challenging environment. Responsibilities:

Landlord-Tenant Notices: Draft, review, and ensure compliance with landlord-tenant notices, including 3-day notices, 30-day notices, and other legal correspondence.

Unlawful Detainer Litigation: Manage and maintain unlawful detainer cases from start to finish, including drafting and filing complaints, motions, discovery, trial preparation, and trial.

Client Interaction: Communicate directly with clients to provide updates, legal advice, and guidance on their cases. Ensure clients are informed and confident throughout the legal process.

Deadlines: Be familiar with and maintain strict adherence to all Court deadlines and legal timelines to ensure the firm remains compliant with California laws.

Legal Research & Strategy: Stay up-to-date on changes in landlord-tenant law and develop strategic approaches for clients’ cases based on current legal trends.

Qualifications:

Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in unlawful detainer litigation including unlawful detainer trials in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Legal Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the San Francisco Bay Area unlawful detainer processes, relevant laws, and legal procedures, including strict compliance with deadlines and local rules. Prior knowledge and use of Lexis-Nexis software is helpful.

Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively draft legal documents and interact with clients and opposing counsel.

Client-Focused: Experience providing direct client contact and managing expectations throughout the litigation process. We emphasize cultivating close, trusted relationships with our clients.

Detail-Oriented: Ability to handle complex cases while maintaining meticulous attention to detail and adhering to deadlines.
