Central San, a progressive public utility, is seeking a Household Hazardous Waste Technician I/II. This position will perform a variety of tasks in handling of hazardous materials from both households and conditionally exempt small quantity generators at the District's Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility. Eligible to apply for advancement to the level II position ($3,890.99- $4,707.71biweekly) after 18 months.
Education:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.
Experience:
Household Hazardous Waste Technician I: One (1) year of full-time experience performing duties related to the collection and disposal of hazardous waste.
Household Hazardous Waste Technician II: Three (3) years of full-time experience performing duties related to the collection and disposal of hazardous waste.
Licenses and Certificates:
Successful completion of the following:
Annual physical examination
Forty (40) hours’ training in Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) 29 CFR 1910.120.
Eight (8) hours of current annual HAZWOPER refresher training in compliance with regulations.
Eight (8) hours of annual cardio pulmonary resuscitation and first aid training and certification.
Thirty-two (32) hours of Haz Cat certification training.
Department of Transportation training 49CFR - HM126, HM181 and HM232.
Forklift Operator’s training and certification.
