Experienced Landscaper/Journeyman Restoration Technician
Prunuske Chatham, Inc. (PCI) is seeking an experienced landscaper/journeyman restoration technician to join our team full-time in Sebastopol, California.
PCI is a small, multi-disciplinary firm that specializes in ecological restoration and natural resource work Northern California. Our team of scientists, planners, landscape architects, engineers, and constructors work collaboratively to find and implement ecological solutions to human challenges, and to help sustain diverse and resilient natural communities. Candidates for this position will be a self-motivated, team-oriented, efficient and have attention to detail. Experience in traditional landscaping practices is a must as well as an interest or experience building restoration projects. The experienced landscaper will implement projects including revegetation, natural landscape construction, irrigation installation, plant maintenance, erosion control, fuel management, and related work in open space and wildland environments.
This position reports to the Construction Group Manager
Key Responsibilities
Install irrigation systems (valve manifolds, drip and spray), planting, trail building, plant maintenance, erosion control work, ground preparation and amendment of soil, wildfire fuel and invasive management, and related work for open space, range, and wildlands environments, new landscape and ecological restoration installations.
Small tractor and equipment operation (mini and mid-size excavators) backhoe, front end loader, skip loader, skid steer, etc.).
Use of hand tools and small power equipment (chainsaws, weed eaters, circular saws, jumping jacks, vibratory plates, mowers, etc.)
Problem-solve in the field.
Procure materials
Ability to read plans
Use of laser level
Finish grading
Ability to organize workspace and prevent hazards during construction phase
Ability to troubleshoot common irrigation problems
Understanding of different types of irrigation systems
Ability to scout indicators of plant stress and disease/damage
Basic understanding of native plants
Basic carpentry, masonry, and hardscape skills
Requirements
5 years of landscaping experience
Education (minimum) - High School Graduate or equivalent
Is interested in long-term employment
Good communication skills and respectful attitude towards others
Is able to understand verbal instructions given by supervisor, literate in English.
Ability to speak Spanish is a plus.
Is able to complete paperwork required for personal time sheets and daily project reports
Able to lift at least 50 lb. of weight frequently throughout assigned work day
Able to work in various positions including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods of time.
Compliance with all company policies and procedures, including safety guidelines and standards.
Capable of travel throughout northern California on a regular basis
Clean CA Driver’s License, Class A or B a bonus
Reliable transportation
Compensation:
This is a full-time, hourly position with benefits including health, vision, dental and life/AD&D, Safe Harbor 401K Plan, paid holidays and paid time-off (PTO) off after meeting eligibility requirements. Pay range is $26 to $38 per hour depending upon experience.
