We are a retreat center in the beautiful redwoods of the Santa Cruz Mountains, looking for a person to join our wedding/event team as part of the set-up crew. You will find a rewarding job with friendly staff in a tranquil setting!
This is a weekend Saturday and Sunday seasonal position with extended time off over the winter and in June. Perfect for students, as well as surfers, skiers, travelers and those who want to spend time at home with family.
This is a highly physical job; we set up inside and outside for events.
Pema Osel Ling is run by the Vajrayana Foundation, whose mission is to the Buddhist ideals of peace and compassion and to preserve Tibetan art and culture. Your work will be supporting positive activity and connecting people to our sacred land.
Set Up Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Working with and taking direction from the Set-up Lead to ensure weddings are set up with care and professionalism
Comprehending & completing tasks on set up documents
Transporting equipment (tables, chairs, outdoor heaters, umbrellas, etc.)
Assembling a dance floor & setting up lighting
Setting up tables to client's specifications
Grounds work including leaf blowing, raking, weed whacking, trash and brush removal
Helping with inventory
Other facility tasks as needed
Qualifications & Skills:
Good communication skills
Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
Valid driver's license and must be over 21 for auto insurance purposes (required per auto insurance to drive our vehicle)
Reliable transportation a must as we are in the mountains
Detail oriented
Ability to work with a sense of urgency, precision and efficiency and stick to a timely schedule
Flexible attitude to tackle last minute changes
Ability to take direction well
Must be able to work as part of a team and have a positive attitude
Ability to stand and walk for an 8 hour shift
