I am looking for a conscientious, compassionate and heart-centered caregiver who shares my values for dignity, support, reliability, and honesty.

Twenty years ago, I had an accident, injured my neck and became paralyzed from the chest down. I lost partial use of my arms and legs. That was difficult, but I resolved to live my life to the fullest, regardless of my disability. At age 63, I am an active quadriplegic man and a rehabilitation counselor who supports people with disabilities to live fully and joyfully.

I know the importance of creating an environment of integrity, optimism and mutual respect, so I seek to hire a highly skilled, personal attendant to assist me with all activities of daily living and continued healing.

This position may be for you if:

You are physically active, mentally sharp, attentive, patient, caring, honest, reliable, empathic, and have a good sense of humor. You enjoy providing hands-on care in a spirit of mutual respect, teamwork, and generosity.

You have a track record of providing excellent, hands-on care. And you are willing to learn new methods for high quality care (I will provide training.) This is NOT companion care.

You are registered as a caregiver with In-Home Support Services (IHSS) in Sonoma County, or are willing to register.

You have a valid driver’s license and excellent references.

You are a NON-SMOKER.

Preferred but not absolutely necessary, you have experience working with people affected by quadriplegia.

Care Schedule:

This position is for weekend day shifts for a total of 16 to 24 hours per week. The schedule will be 2 consecutive days between: Saturday and Sunday.

Responsibilities Include:

Assist with range of motion exercises.

Assist with toileting, showering, shaving, personal grooming and dressing.

Prepare, cook and serve healthy meals.

Assist with grocery shopping.

Administer medication.

Assist with daily cleaning and laundry.

Assist with home management, organization, opening mail and packages.

Drive to doctor visits, appointments and social activities.
