The Alameda County Healthy Homes Department is recruiting a Licensed Occupational Therapist to perform comprehensive assessments under the Older Adult Home Modification Grant Program. This position plays a vital role in conducting home safety evaluations, developing modification plans, and supporting older adults in maintaining independence at home. The duration of the grant program is expected to last three years.
Essential Duties:

Conduct home safety assessments and provide recommendations for modifications.
Coordinate with Department staff and contractors for implementation.
Prepare and maintain assessment reports, ensuring federal compliance.
Educate clients on home safety practices and assist with modification plans.

About Alameda County Healthy Homes Department (ACHHD):
The Alameda County Healthy Homes Department administers the Older Adults Home Modification Grant Program, Lead Hazard Control Program, Minor Home Repair Program and Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program in Alameda County. The Department’s primary goal is to create safe and healthy housing by providing public education and outreach, case management to lead poisoned children, housing assessments and interventions and lead safety training. The Department consists of a multidisciplinary staff (35 and growing) including housing, environmental, and health professionals under the same roof to carry out the mission of preventing lead poisoning and promoting health and safety in the home.
Minimum Qualifications:
Either I
The equivalent of one year of full-time experience in the class of Occupational Therapist I in the Alameda County classified service. (Non-classified includes District Attorney’s Office, Hospital Authority, and the Consolidated Courts.)
Or II
Education:
The equivalent of two years of full-time experience as an Occupational Therapist in another facility in physical disabilities or psycho-social dysfunction.
Certification: Registration in the American Occupational Therapy Association.
Licensed within the state of California. Experienced in serving older adults/ gerontology, providing housing rehabilitation services, home modifications, aging in place modifications, or construction.
Special Requirements:
Employees must possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License and may be required to drive in the performance of duties. Incumbents may be required to work evening/weekends.

Work Schedule & Location:
Flexible work schedule. The role will involve regular fieldwork across Alameda County, conducting in-person interviews of clients participating in the grant program, attending community outreach events and recruiting participants. This is a part-time position based in Oakland, CA. This is an ideal opportunity for professionals seeking supplemental income, or improved work-life balance.
