We are looking for an experienced caregiver for a kind older man on hospice with Alzheimer's living in Santa Cruz.
Basic Info
Shifts are 6 hrs/day : 7 days/wk to start immediately
If this schedule does not work for you but you are a good fit otherwise, please inquire as there may be some flexibility. It is also possible that the hours would slightly increase or that the shifts could be split between 2 qualified candidates
Payment is through IHSS which has a rate of $17.75/hr (there may be a supplemental increase depending on budget / qualifications)
All caregivers must be IHSS approved
If you are not, it is a few simple steps that can be taken prior to starting
What We Are Looking For:
A reliable and compassionate caregiver who has experience working with Alzheimers/Dementia.
Being good-natured and patient is highly valued. Please note, that while this gentleman has cognitive challenges, he is very pleasant and kind and not prone to anger/aggression and neither should you.
Someone who is comfortable with personal care and can help with:
Accompaniment and support to help him safely use the bathroom (every 2.5 hrs)
Assistance with personal care/hygiene (not squeamish about bodily functions)
A hospice nurse will come 2x/wk to assist with bathing, so this is not something you will need to do, but please be prepared to give the nurse updates
Someone to fulfill the following duties:
Cook 3 meals / day for someone with no teeth or dentures
Daily cleaning: dishes, sweep, tidy, laundry (coin-operated onsite: coins provided)
Mop and other house chores 1x/wk
Helpful but not required:
Having your own reliable transportation
Having experience in other cultures, class backgrounds, and diverse populations
