Being a caregiver is an important and meaningful job.
As a Companion, you'll work one-on-one with our client, out and about Santa Cruz or in their
home, as they lead an independent and personally fulfilling life. You'll be part of an experienced
team of caregivers who support them. A shift can be anything from seeing a movie on Pacific
Ave, to going to a jazz festival in Monterey, to a day trip to the Big Sur coast.
It's a job that's both fun but meaningful to the person you're supporting. A lot of our clients used
to live in group homes or institutions, and now enjoy the freedom to live as they choose.
Mainstream Inc. offers Supported Living Services to adults with developmental disabilities in
Santa Cruz, California. We have several home support staff / Companion / Caregiver positions
available for a thoughtful, reliable person with great people skills.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
● Words to describe you: unflappable, steady, dependable, mature, patient, consistent, down
to earth, hard working, and compassionate.
● You thrive working as a communicative, engaging part of a team.
● You are also a great self-starter and are comfortable taking initiative independently
● You have experience with (or advocating for) people with Developmental Disabilities
and/or mental health issues.
● You must be at least 18 years old.
● You must be able to pass a DOJ fingerprint clearance and background check.
CURRENT CLIENT OPENINGS:
Most of our current openings are in Santa Cruz. have both part-time and full-time openings available, depending on how you want to piece together your schedule. Some of our Companions work with one client; others work with several
clients throughout the week. It’s up to you. We've got daytime shifts available as well as some overnights. Staff who work overnights are paid to sleep through the night!
COMPENSATION:
The pay is $18.60-$21.30 per hour for awake hours. For overnight shifts, you're paid $16 per hour to sleep during sleep hours, up to 8 hours a night. This position is partly funded by the county of Santa Cruz, so you'll need to enroll in In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) for most of our open positions. Your IHSS registration expenses will be promptly reimbursed. Employees who work full time qualify for medical and dental benefits as well as PTO and life insurance.
