As a Park Ranger Assistant you will be enthralled with Sonoma County’s rolling hills, rugged coastline and meandering rivers while contributing to their stewardship. Your responsibilities will include:
Collecting and reporting on camping and park day-use fees
Performing park maintenance and janitorial work, including cleaning restrooms and trash pickup
Providing direction to extra-help staff and volunteers
Supporting visitors in following park rules
Assisting with special park events and festivals
As the ideal candidate, you possess the following:
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Basic Microsoft Office skills
Experience with providing customer service and point of sale cash handling
The ability to shift gears quickly and effectively
Experience leading, training, and/or supervising staff or volunteers
Valid basic First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and First Responder Certification is highly desired
Trainings related to Park Interpretation, emergency skills, fire protection and safety skills are highly desired, but not required
Bilingual skills (English/Spanish), are desired but not required
Intermittent, extra-help employees are limited in their employment to a maximum of 1,380 hours within any twelve month consecutive period. Extra-help employees who meet the eligibility requirements may qualify for a County contribution toward medical coverage.
