Bargetto Winery is a family run winery that has produced hand-crafted wines in the Santa Cruz Mountains since 1933. We produce a wide range of wines including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Grigio and Nebbiolo among others. We specialize in our estate grown varietals from our Regan Estate Vineyard in the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA. The mountainous, cool climate region is host to low-yielding vineyards which produce wines of richness and intensity.
Position Summary:
The main function of this internship is to assist the production team during the peak of the harvest season. It will provide the right candidate with an in-depth look at the winemaking process and everything that goes into making premium wines. There are two open intern positions, one will start in August while the other starts in September. Both positions will run through late October or early November depending on how the season progresses. The position will foster quality, innovation, productivity, and teamwork in the workplace. You will be joining a four-person production team that likes to work hard and have fun.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Complete any required cellar duties including, but not limited to: receiving grapes, crushing, pressing, racking, barreling down, digging out tanks, and topping
Monitor fermentations: check brix and temperature, perform punch downs and pump overs
Complete any required cleaning and sanitation including tank washing, barrel washing, cleaning crush equipment, and general winery cleanliness
Qualifications:
Experience working in wine production preferred but not mandatory
A passion for making premium wines
Strong organizational, problem solving, and analytical skills
Strong written and verbal communication
Must be able to work long hours, including weekends during harvest
Have the ability to lift 55lbs i.e. a case of wine
Have the ability to climb up and down ladders
