Nominated best sushi restaurant in Santa Cruz for many years, AKIRA Aptos strives to provide not just the freshest seafood and sushi but also the best environment to work at. Our diverse staff is what we build our brand and culture from. Our staff members come from many different backgrounds, with different experience and skillsets. We are looking to add another team member to our Service Staff who is enthusiastic and passionate, yet willing to learn our style of services, and get adapted fast and well into our culture.
DAILY TASKS:
▪️Show up on time with a positive attitude and required uniform
▪️Clean tables and set up the tables, chairs, soy sauce bottles and table settings
▪️Prepare to-go salad if need to
▪️Turn on hot sake machine and hot water machine
▪️Fill out water bottles to get ready for services
▪️Set up miso soup station with tofu and green onion
▪️Restock to-go containers and boxes if runs low
▪️Restock chopsticks and napkins
▪️Receive phone orders for to-go's (when on lunch shifts or hosting shifts)
▪️Greet and serve dine-in guests
▪️Buss your own tables when a busser is not on shift
▪️Use the POS system (Aldelo) to clock in/out, put in orders, close out tickets, and close out daily books
▪️Clean and organize the menus
▪️Restock wasabi, ginger, chopsticks and napkins for to-go
▪️Take out trash and reline the trash bins
▪️Be responsible for cash sales
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
▪️Must be able to learn and memorize AKIRA Aptos menu items/beverages
▪️Must be able to learn and memorize Japanese food terms in a short amount of time
▪️Must speak, read and write English (Spanish is a bonus)
▪️Must be able to commute to and from the restaurant
▪️Must be able to maintain a professional attitude during busy hours, and/or when a stressful situation happens
▪️Ability to perform under pressure and busy hours
▪️Must be willing to learn and adapt to new work environment and get along with many coworkers
▪️Must be able to give and receive professional feedback/constructive criticisms from the FOH Manager, Lead Servers, and fellow workers
▪️Follow directions from management regarding weekly or monthly specials, or any adjustment to menu changes, or changes in operation
▪️Must be able to maintain good relations with fellow co-workers in both FOH and BOH departments. No dramas.
▪️Follow all company policy, safety and security procedures
▪️Must have food handler certification
▪️Ability to stand, walk, and carry heavy food trays for long hours
▪️Ability to climb up and down ladders, carrying boxes, cans and bottles
▪️Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
▪️Flexibility to pick up extra shifts if need to

COMPENSATIONS: $16.00/hour plus tips
