California, San francisco bay area
Aplica ya

The North Beach Farmers Market is seeking a Market Assistant to help our community market reach new heights in 2025! This is a great role for someone who loves to interact with people, be around talented farmers, artisans and creators, and is able to keep calm and solve problems on the go.

Specific responsibilities include:

-Setup the market in the morning, including securing the street and setting up market infrastructure

-Answer questions from customers and provide friendly assistance to those who need an extra hand

-Monitor and enforce market rules and regulations according to state and city guidelines

-Maintain friendly relationships with our vendors and handle weekly stall fee collection

-Tear down the market at the end of the market day

-Work alongside others who run the market including the Directors, community volunteers, and fellow staff

-Identify opportunities for market growth and improvement, from marketing to events and vendors

Location: 725 Greenwich Street. Next to Joe DiMaggio Playground, on Greenwich Street.

Hours & Schedule: The market is year-round on Saturday and typical shifts are 6:30am - 10am, 7:30am - 2:00pm, and 10am - 2pm. We have a team of 3 staff, 2 of whom are at the market at any given time, so the expectation is that you are working 2/3 of the time the market is open.

Previous experience is not required, but is desirable in the following fields: customer service, hospitality, events, food service, or agriculture.

This position will take place entirely outdoors and can be physically strenuous at times. It requires setting up and breaking down the market, which includes tables, tents, cones, barricades, and more. You should be comfortable and able to lift and load equipment, and to stand for much of the market.
