SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
We are looking for enthusiastic baristas who love coffee and people to deliver outstanding service and exacting beverage preparation. Hops & Beans Cafe baristas create experiences that change the way people know coffee. Baristas at Hops & Beans are nice, work hard, and know how to have fun.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Be an active and engaged part of a cafe team to ensure:
Customers are consistently served delicious coffee to our quality and service standards
Information about all cafe menu offerings can be relayed to customers
The rest of the cafe team is assisted in anticipating needs, preventing problems, and maintaining smooth operations
All employee and cafe operations policies are known and adhered to, including but not limited to: cash handling, scheduling and feedback processes
The cafe is kept clean, beautiful and safe, providing both employees and customers with a fun, inclusive environment
QUALIFICATIONS
Love of coffee
Passion for excellent customer service
Stellar communication skills and ability to work well in a team
Ability to keep calm and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Possession of a current Food Handler’s Card
All new hire barista's will be required to do a 2 day paid training by Ritual Coffee Roasters in SF.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical requirements listed are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Physical ability to stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, walk, crawl, push and pull items weighing up to 20 pounds.
Able to engage with customers for 90% of scheduled time
Stand and move throughout the cafe/ office.
Have consistent and reliable onsite attendance at the cafe/ office.
Proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills in English;
Work under pressure with changing, ambiguous priorities.
Communicate effectively and promptly to clients, vendors and employees of the organization.
Ability to work overtime occasionally at the last minute.
Stand stationary in cafe throughout the shift for periods of time (up to 8 hours per day, 5 days per week);
Continuous physical activity including walking, standing, twisting, sitting, bending, lifting, reaching, kneeling, stooping, crawling, wiping, climbing, pushing and pulling items.
COMPENSATION + BENEFITS
Hops & Beans strongly believes in investing in our people and our culture. The starting hourly rate for this position is $18.50 per hour includes estimated tips (Pay will vary depending on experience), with several opportunities for training and performance-based raises.
