Established in the summer of 2009, PAAM is a small woman-owned business in Marin with a team of 15 - 20 employees (staff and faculty) who are highly motivated, dedicated and passionate about educating youth in dance & theatre arts.

Join our dynamic and professional team at the Performing Arts Academy of Marin (PAAM), located in scenic Mill Valley in a beautiful two-story state-of-the-art facility, offering six studios with engineered dance floors, natural light, and well maintained spaces (including a dedicated faculty room and access to outdoor patio).

We are located conveniently off of 101 in Mill Valley, accessible within minutes from the Seminary Drive and East Blithedale exits. Our current team comes to us from all over the Bay Area, representing the North Bay, East Bay, San Francisco, and the Peninsula.

OUR VISION:

Founded in a genuine love for the performing arts, we provide comprehensive training in theater arts and dance as well as additional offerings including Youth Musicals, BAYPAC Intensive Training Programs, BAYPAC Dance Company, PAAM Squad and Summer Programs. Students receive superior training, expand their boundaries, gain valuable skills – all while building friendships and memories. PAAM equips young artists with a well-rounded arts education and the confidence to take on whatever path they choose.

THE POSITION:

This could be one Full-Time Position or a few Part-Time Positions, depending on the applicants.

REC PROGRAM COORDINATOR & FACULTY (DANCE & THEATRE)

This position in particular focuses on our recreational programs for youth ages 3 through 18. PAAM offers curriculum-based training in a wide variety of dance styles in order to build skilled and confident young performers. Ideal candidate will be proficient in one or more of the following styles: Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical, Acro, Musical Theater and/or Hip Hop. Candidates should be well-versed and enjoy teaching beginning dancers ages 3 & up. Candidates should also be well-versed in creating appropriate, thoughtful and dynamic choreography for ages 3 & up as well as the ability to clean their pieces for performances. The Coordinator aspect of the role requires previous experience with leading a team (of any size), curriculum review, program development, parent communication and staff communication/coordination.

The position will be likely 15 - 25 hours of teaching per week supplemented with administrative duties including but not limited to faculty/staff meetings, email responses, planning meetings, clerical work and collaborations with other faculty.

DANCE FACULTY (COMPANY & REC)

This position in particular focuses on teaching within our Recreational Programs, BAYPAC Intensive Training Program and our BAYPAC Dance Company. BAYPAC offers curriculum-based training in a wide variety of dance styles in order to build and well-rounded, technically proficient, creative, open, articulate, expressive and collaborative dancers and artists. Ideal candidate will be proficient in one or more of the following styles: Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical, Acro, Hip Hop and/or Modern and have a strong background in ballet. Candidates should be well-versed and enjoy teaching beginning dancers ages 6 & up all the way up to our pre-professional dancers heading off to college. Candidates should also be well-versed in creating appropriate, thoughtful and dynamic choreography for ages 6 & up as well as the ability to clean not only their pieces, but others as well.

The position will be likely 20 - 30 hours of teaching per week supplemented with administrative duties including but not limited to faculty/staff meetings, email responses, planning meetings, clerical work and collaborations with other faculty.

DESIRED QUALITIES:

-Relevant experience and training (most importantly) as a dance educator. Previous and continued training as a student of dance.

-Professional experience as a dancer or musical theater performer is helpful. Not a requirement for a faculty position.

-Passion for working in a collaborative and supportive environment - contributing to our existing curriculum and willingness to work cohesively in meetings with other faculty members to ensure quality and consistency in class structure and technique.

-Genuine love for educating youth.

-Creation of a Dynamic and Focused Class Environment - ability and desire to promote a safe, creative, accepting studio classroom that offers age-appropriate challenges to build training and build-up the individual students' confidence and appreciation for the arts.

-Life Long Learner - willingness to always evolve as an educator, contribute your expertise and openness to consider new ways to enhance your approach.

-Excellent Communication - commitment to maintaining excellent communication with Artistic Director and PAAM Faculty and Staff. We are a team and all aim to be on the same page about what is going on with our classes, students, families, and successes/challenges.

-Availability to work 4 - 6 days per week, including private lessons and/or group rehearsals on select weekends.
