Job Title: Head Teacher – Upper Elementary Special Education

Location: Marin County

Start Date: August 11, 2025

Interviews: Taking place June–July

Compensation: DOE (Dependent on Experience) $6,000-$7,000 monthly

Position Overview:

An upper elementary classroom is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Head Teacher to lead our upper elementary special education classroom of 12 students. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced educator with a strong therapeutic background who thrives in a collaborative, hands-on, and student-centered environment. This is not a role for a worksheet-driven approach; we are looking for someone who brings creativity, structure, and heart to the classroom.

Student Profile:

Our class consists of 10–12 students with a range of mild needs; including autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, and oppositional behavioral challenges. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to build strong rapport with students and maintain a proactive, supportive approach to classroom management. This is not a role for a punitive, authoritative type.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead academic instruction across all subject areas using engaging, differentiated, and project-based approaches

Collaborate closely with a full-time classroom aide, speech therapist, occupational therapist, and school psychologist

Implement online assessments and maintain academic data

Write and deliver report cards

Conduct parent-teacher conferences and participate in IEP meetings as needed

Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and structured classroom environment

Stay ahead of student behaviors with preventive strategies and therapeutic techniques

Qualifications:

Credentialed teacher, therapy license, or education degree

Strong background in therapeutic and trauma-informed practices

Experience working with students with mild special needs and behavioral challenges

Demonstrated success with hands-on learning and flexible teaching methods

Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills

Positive, creative, and energetic outlook

Position Overview:

Our Special Education Classroom is seeking an energetic, organized, and compassionate Classroom Aide to support both our upper and lower elementary special education classrooms. Under the guidance of the Head Teacher, the aide will help facilitate daily classroom operations and provide hands-on support to students with mild special needs.

This is a fantastic opportunity and great position for someone who wants to obtain a teaching credential, or is interested in gaining meaningful experience in education, special education, or child development, and who thrives in a collaborative, therapeutic, and creative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Support the Head Teacher with classroom instruction and daily routines

Work directly with students on individual and small group assignments

Run learning centers and help facilitate hands-on projects

Prep and organize curriculum materials as directed

Correct and organize student work and homework

Supervise students during recess, lunch, field trips, and special activities

Participate in a collaborative team that includes speech, OT, and psych professionals

Student Profile:

Our students are bright, creative, and each have unique learning needs. The class includes 10–12 students with mild autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, and occasional oppositional behaviors. A strong aide is one who can form authentic connections, maintain a structured and therapeutic approach, and support each child with positivity and patience.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 years working with children, ideally including children with special needs

Enrolled in or interested in pursuing a degree in education, psychology, or child development

Ability to actively engage in play, projects, and learning activities

Highly organized, reliable, and collaborative

Takes direction well while showing initiative

Positive, patient, and incredibly energetic
