Senior Property Accountant

We are seeking a Senior Property Accountant to lead and oversee key accounting projects within our property portfolio. This role is primarily focused on commercial property accounting, with some exposure to residential properties. While this position does not directly supervise a team, it is designed for a proactive individual who can lead by example and drive initiatives forward. There is potential for management responsibilities in the future as the role evolves.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Leadership: Lead and manage critical accounting projects related to our portfolio of commercial properties, ensuring accurate and timely completion.

Financial Reporting: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for properties, ensuring they meet all relevant accounting standards.

Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with senior management to prepare and manage property budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses.

Lease Accounting: Oversee the accurate accounting for leases, including rent roll management, tenant billing, and reconciliations.

Month-End Close: Manage the month-end close process, including preparing journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.

Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the property accounting function and implement improvements.

Leadership by Example: Set a high standard for accuracy, attention to detail, and professionalism, serving as a role model within the team.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

CPA designation preferred.

5+ years of experience in real estate accounting, with a focus on commercial properties.

Strong understanding of GAAP and real estate accounting principles.

Proven ability to lead projects and initiatives.

Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
