Position Summary:

Under the leadership of the Controller, the Senior Accountant provides oversight of the agencies’ general accounting functions. This position requires dedication, commitment, patience and accuracy. Accounting procedures used by TLC Child and Family Services are to conform to generally accepted accounting principles. The accrual method of accounting shall be used in the accounting program. Annual audits are conducted by an accounting firm and a yearly financial report is prepared.

Essential Functions:Ensures that billings and requests for payments are prepared properly, and expenses are allocated or distributed to the general ledger accounts accurately.Ensures that Accounts Payable transactions are processed accurately, timely, and with adequate documentationPrepares bank reconciliation for all corporate accounts.Maintains cash receipt transactions, including computer entry and reconciliation of account to the general ledger, also ensuring that deposits are made promptly.Prepares monthly billing statements, and sends to all placement agencies and contract agencies.Supervises the processing of bi-weekly payroll. Reviews all payroll reports and journalizes all entries to the general ledger.Ensures that all tax reporting deadlines are met by the outside payroll service and other public jurisdictions, i.e. welfare exemptions, rate setting, etc.Maintains accurate books of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger, including other full-cycle accounting procedures.Prepares monthly reporting of actual expenses compared to budget.Skills:In depth knowledge of full-cycle accounting.Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting standards and procedures.Ability to compile, analyze, evaluate and interpret data and transactions.Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.Strong attention to detail.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Experience with Cloud-based accounting software (NetSuite Experience a plus).Qualifications:High School diploma, or equivalent, and completion of some college coursework is required. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or similar field is preferred.3+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit setting is required.Obtain and maintain fingerprint, government and agency required background clearances, without additional exemptions.Ability to pass a pre-employment physical exam, TB and drug screen.TLC offers a generous benefit package for full time staff including:

Salary Range: $89,000 – $100,000 per year depending on years of experience. The salary range for this role may vary above and below the posted range, as determined by experience and licensure. Compensation takes into account several factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs.
