Part-Time Bookkeeper (Construction-Focused)

Location: San Francisco, CA (In-office 2–3 days/month)

Schedule: Part-time, approx. 16–24 hours/month

Compensation: $30–$40 per hour, depending on experience

Overview:

CMA Development, a high-end residential construction company based in San Francisco, is seeking a part-time Bookkeeper with strong experience in construction accounting. This role requires in-person work at our SF office 2–3 days per month and will grow in time commitment as our project load expands. You will be responsible for managing all bookkeeping duties, including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and project-level financials.

Key Responsibilities:

Visit our San Francisco office twice per month to manage books and interface with project files

Manage all AP and AR — including vendor invoices, subcontractor payments, and client billing

Track project-level financials and job costing accurately

Reconcile bank and credit card transactions monthly

Prepare financial reports and assist with budget tracking

Organize digital records and maintain audit-ready files

Collaborate with the principal on financial planning and cash flow visibility

Ensure clean handoff for CPA at year-end

Required Qualifications:

Strong experience in construction bookkeeping (residential preferred)

Working knowledge of JobTread is highly preferred and may be required — or demonstrated tech fluency with the ability to learn it quickly

Proficiency with QuickBooks Online (QBO) and Excel/Google Sheets

Excellent organizational and communication skills

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Nice to Have:

Familiarity with lien releases and cost-plus billing

Experience managing W-9s and certificate of insurance tracking

Understanding of California subcontractor compliance

Compensation:

$30-$40/hour depending on experience, with potential to grow as project volume increases.
