Local General Engineering Contractor looking for an accountant/office administrator. For nearly 50 years we have specialized in heavy civil construction including but not limited to underground wet utilities, earth-moving, and paving both locally and in surrounding communities. With a reputation for delivering high-quality work and innovative solutions, we are growing and seeking an experienced Accountant to join our team. If you have 5-10 years of accounting experience (a plus if it’s in the construction industry) particularly with certified payroll and billing portals, we would love to hear from you. The position has flexible hours that can range from 30-40 hours per week in the office.
Qualifications:
Experience: 5-10 years of accounting experience in the construction industry, with expertise in certified payroll and managing
billing systems/portals for construction projects. Accounting degree is a plus!
Skills: Proficiency in general accounting software, billing portals, and Microsoft Excel. American Contractor Construction
software is a plus!
Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately track project finances and identify discrepancies.

Job Responsibilities
Billing Portals: Manage project billing through various construction-specific billing portals, ensuring accurate invoicing,
timely submission, and efficient resolution of any billing issues.
Financial Reporting: Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements for each project, including job costing reports, financial
summaries, and forecasts for ongoing construction projects. Review and close monthly and yearly financial periods. Report to
owner with balance sheets and profit and loss statements.
Account Reconciliation: Perform monthly reconciliations for business accounts, reviewing expenses and revenues to ensure
accurate reporting and compliance with budget forecasts. Enter general journal entries as needed. Perform data testing and
review batches for accuracy.
Job Costing: Assist with job costing by tracking expenses, material costs, labor costs, and subcontractor payments, ensuring
accurate allocations for each construction project.
Compliance & Auditing: Ensure compliance with accounting standards specific to the construction industry, and support internal
audits as well as external audits for project contracts. Audit processes also include year end general liability insurance programs.
Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, estimator, and the construction team to ensure financial data aligns with
project timelines, budgets, and contracts.
Tracking: Maintain Certificates of insurance, lien releases, and preliminary notices. Setup individual job accounts within our
internal accounting software.
Certified Payroll: Administer certified payroll processes for our construction projects, ensuring compliance with federal, state,
and local regulations, including prevailing wage laws. Timely submission of certified payroll reports, administration of fringe
benefits, and accounting of payments on a per employee basis.
