Blatteis Realty, a 100+ year boutique commercial real estate seeking a full time Assistant to our Controller. This person will primarily help our Corporate Controller with entering Deposits, preparing monthly Statements, and other related property management duties. We manage approximately 40 small commercial buildings in the San Francisco Bay Area. As an Assistant to our Controller, you will be contributing to the overall success of our growing organization.
Note: Having strong working knowledge of Yardi programs is a Requirement for this position.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate integrity, exceptional organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong working knowledge of YardiBreeze or Yardi related programs (REQUIRED)
- Proactively help manage day-to-day financial operations
- Assist with overseeing all accounting and financial functions
- Help supervise accounts payable, bookkeeping, bill payments, and financial record organization
- Maintain general ledger and accounting system for each property
- Participate in key decision-making as a member of the management team
- Reconcile inter-company accounts
-Interact with Vendors, Property Owners and Tenants.
- Develop policies and procedures to improve performance and reduce risk
- Prepare monthly financial statements and analysis for each property under management
- Other duties as assigned by the Partners
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in senior accounting or financial positions
- Knowledge of finance, accounting software, and strategic planning
- Detail-oriented and results-driven
- Maintain confidentiality of organizational information
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Strong prioritization and time management abilities
- Collaborate closely with Property Managers and Admin staff as a team player
- Prior experience working in a Commercial Real Estate Firm is a huge plus!
Additional Expectations:
- Assist our Accountant and Partners of the Firm with daily operations
Be a dynamic person ("go getter"), willing to accept the challenges of an active Commercial Real Estate Firm
- Support our bookkeeper and Broker with general ledger reconciliation and more
- Be flexible to accept new challenges
- Have phone responsibilities and provide tax preparation support
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Bookkeeping
-Experience in Property Managment
-Have a CA Real Estate License (not required, but big Plus)
- Experience using QuickBooks - Desktop and Online
Familiar with city tax compliance in particular (Business Registration/ CVT/Business Tax).
- Previous work in a CPA or Accounting firm
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to interact positively and professionally with staff
- Independent self-starter with strong organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong computer skills
